COR Civil 3D Corridor Modeling Tutorials

Corridor Definition
A corridor represents a path, such as a road, trail, railroad, or airport runway. The geometry of a corridor is defined by a horizontal alignment and a profile. Together, these form the baseline – the centerline of the 3D path of the corridor. Along the length of the baselines are a series of assemblies which define the cross-sectional shape of the alignment. Common points in each assembly are connected to form feature lines. Together the assemblies and feature lines form the 3D shape of a corridor. A corridor also has one or more surfaces which can be compared against an existing ground surface to determine the amount of cut or fill required. Corridors can also be used to model berms, swales, ditches, ponds, parking areas, and more.
Corridor Tutorials
- COR101 Creating a Corridor Model
This video tutorial steps through the process of creating a corridor model. Topics include assemblies, subassemblies, points, links, shapes, code set styles, setting targets and frequency, and more. This tutorial uses the basic lane subassembly, as well as, in my view, the easiest subassembly for generating cut and fill. Runtime 00:14:39 - COR100 Digital Terrain Modeling: Tips, Tricks, and Techniques
Covers corridor modeling and general digital terrain modeling. Was written using Civil 3D 2009 but is a good reference for other releases, and generally speaking, the same principles apply. Includes: Terrain Modeling & Delaunay Triangulation, Breaklines, DTM Visulaization Techniques, Terrain Modeling & Vertical Faces, Weeding Factors, Maximum Triangle Length, STRM Surface Data & Google Earth, Importing Contours From an ArcView Shapefile, Setting Up Point Styles, Description Keys & Point Groups, Corridor Modeling: Terminology, Assembling a Complex Corridor Model at an Intersection, Corridor Modeling: Generic Links. 46 Pages
