New Macbook Pro on the Horizon

We each have rumor mills we pay attention to – the sites we keep track of to keep an eye on technology. It’s no secret I run Civil 3D on a Macbook Pro, if you not sure how or why, you need to browse this way more often
I’ve put 18 months on my current model, I run both Snow Leopard and Windows 7, both 64-bit, 4Gb RAM, dual video cards. I’ve never blue screened, I don’t have virus software, I’ve never been down, my system backs up wirelessly, hourly, to a 2Tb Time Machine. If you’re into horsepower, stability, and new technology like I am, you’re waiting for the next best thing like I am. I wouldn’t trade the Macbook for anything – except – a new Macbook. I’ve held off on purchasing any kind of hardware until the new ones are released, but when will that be? Here’s what we’ve seen:
‘MacBook Pro 2010′ RAM Modules Spotted? (February 23, 2010)
Apple Planning Smoother Transitions Between Graphics Processors in Upcoming MacBook Pros? (February 19, 2010)
The Wait for New MacBook Pros Continues, More Best Buy SKUs Found (February 17, 2010)
New Placeholder SKUs Appearing in Best Buy Inventory Database? (February 15, 2010)
Current MacBook Pro Models Deleted From Best Buy’s Inventory System? Updates Imminent? (February 08, 2010)
Unreleased Core i7 MacBook Pro 6,1 Benchmarked? Supplies Constrained (February 06, 2010)
During the Oscars Sunday night, we saw a commercial for the “new” Intel Core i7. But that processor was released in September of last year, so it’s not new. And as fast as technology moves, well, it seems odd to me to have a commercial for this “new” technology at this time. Unless, of course, it’s the birth of a marketing campaign for a new Macbook Pro. If I were a betting man…
If you’re in the market for hardware, consider two things: The Macs and Macbooks – even the iMacs (with a nice 27″ monitor and 16Gb RAM) – are the most robust systems on the market, and Autodesk typically releases new software in the spring. You owe it to yourself to pay attention this next few months. You could easily buy new systems that’ll last 3 years, run multiple OSs, and stay healthy.
